Youth sports worlds collide at the Little League World Series

PGA Junior League golfers from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, took a pretty cool road trip recently. Destination: Williamsport!

Captain Pete Korba, PGA, gathered his team and their families at Wyoming Valley Country Club for a two-hour road trip to Williamsport.

The first stop was Williamsport Country Club for an exhibition match with some of its youth golfers. Williamsport Country Club has never fielded a PGA Junior League team, so Korba worked with PGA Professional Chris Macdonald to arrange a just-for-fun match with some of his junior golfers. Williamsport Country Club players were given jerseys to make the match feel like the real deal!

After the matches, the teams ‘tailgated’ at Lamade Stadium ahead of the 7:30 p.m. game. Unfortunately, a massive storm came in and rained out the game, but not before his players traded their All-Star pins with some of the ushers and took a photo on the famed hill just outside of center field!

We consider our players and parents to be ambassadors for PGA Junior League, and everyone loved the opportunity to share it with another facility who hasn’t yet experienced the program.

As PGA Professionals, our job is to not only promote the game of golf, but also to spread the joy of making new friends and seeking out new experiences. I believe the parents might have had more fun watching their kids all day throughout the golf, the tailgate, and the rain out!
